QDS Decon Powder Mix is a powder compound that consists of ion exchange chelating agents that promote 'like for like' element swapping when dissolved in DI (ideally), distilled, or tap water.   Radioactive elements are lifted into solution and replaced by non-radioactive elements that are similar in properties, etc. without the addition or introduction of energy (heat, physical cleaning, etc.)  The compound is generally neutral in pH and does not contain surfactants or degreasers.

The product’s function is to lift and suspend radioactive contaminants so they can be safely removed; it does not provide any therapeutic or pharmacological effect. QDS products are not marketed or regulated as drugs, are not medical devices, and do not carry a Drug Identification Number (DIN) with Health Canada. As such, there is no DIN applicable for this product. The product is supplied as a non‑toxic decontamination solution/cleaning agent, supported by an SDS and intended for industrial, nuclear, and emergency response decontamination applications rather than medical treatment.
